About the Conference
The Undergraduate History Conference is an annual showcase of undergraduate research. Students can present work they have done on their own or in a class through a variety of mediums: oral presentations, posters, websites, dioramas, and more! Any piece of research that concerns history and uses historical methods, is welcome at our conference. The conference will be held on Thursday, May 21st. We are very flexible with scheduling throughout the day to adapt to your course schedule. Even if you can't be on campus on the 21st - you can submit your visual presentation early and we'll set it up for you!

How to Apply
To apply, please visit bit.ly/uhc2020<http://bit.ly/uhc2020> and complete the Google Form. As part of the application, you will be asked to submit a Research Abstract (max. 250 words). This should be a descriptive summary of your project and can include your topics, research methods, purpose, etc. If you aren't sure where to start, check out this guide form the USC library: http://libguides.usc.edu/writingguide/abstract. Apply by Sunday, April 5th!

Why Should I Apply?
1. Share your research beyond the classroom.
2. Get experience with public presentation.
3. Have conference experience that you can put on your CV for future graduate school & job applications.
4. Get feedback on your research.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the conference & what if I have class?
The conference this year is on Thursday, May 21st. The event will go throughout most of the day and students are not expected to be there the entire day. We will work with their class and work schedules to make sure there is not a conflict with their presentation.

What students are eligible to apply?
Undergraduate students from any major and any class level are welcome to apply. Students who graduated before Fall 2019 are not eligible.

Does the research need to be from a class project?
No, student research can come from a class, extracurricular project or something they have been researching on their own.

What ways can students present their work?
Students may present their research through a 10-minute oral presentation or with a visual display. Visual displays can be posters, scrapbooks, digital displays, dioramas, etc. We are open to nearly any form of creative display!
