Three leading scholars in Asian environmental history discuss their respective perspectives focusing on China, Korea/Japan, and southeast Asia, moderated by a professor of Chinese law with a more contemporary view.

David Fedman, Assistant Professor of History, UC Irvine, and author of Seeds of Control: Japan’s Empire of Forestry in Colonial Korea (University of Washington Press, 2020)

Meng Zhang, Assistant Professor of History, Loyola Marymount University, and author of Timber and Forestry in Qing China: Sustaining the Market (University of Washington Press, 2021)

Qitao Guo, Associate Professor of History, UC Irvine, and Director of UCI Center for Asian Studies

Alex Wang, Professor at the Law School, UCLA, a leading specialist in Chinese environmental law
