OIT Colo customers

Some of you might be affected by a partial power outage being scheduled
for next Tuesday morning from 8 AM to about 1 PM. I have been
communicating with the specific people that will be affected but in the
spirit of not missing anyone I'm sending this message to everyone on this
list just in case. Please review the list below to see if you'll be
affected.

OIT is replacing the UPS and generator that powers some colo equipment in
the DC with a new, centerwide UPS and bigger generator. Unfortunately,
electricians can't do the work on the specific power distribution unit
without it being powered off. I apologize for the less than a week notice
but we only recently confirmed all the logistics involved.

It affects the following systems that *might* be yours:

The BIC racks - I17 and I18
The BIRN/BIC rack - I23

Any system on rack I19 and L19 those include:

Franz systems
Khelif systems
etylus.bio
hydriara.bio
ctla.uci
chisasmata
esx1.bio - Carlyle's
doa.bio - Carlyle's
sandstron.bio - Carlyle's
HRI system

The Project Assist rack - I22

The Sorooshian rack - L20

Please check your systems residency in each rack. Most colo racks will
not be affected.

The time constraints on the work are very severe - we can't get campus
electricians, vendor electricians, vendors and the beginning of the
quarter all in a line except on this day. And we can't get them here too
much earlier to start.

Please tell me if this will cause severe problems for you. We need to do
this work since the current UPS is aging and fragile and could fail at any
time. But the result of the work will be a much more robust redundant
power system for these racks.
